Opinion of Deciding Between The Submariner Or The Seamaster from a Fake Master
replica rolex 0 commentsWe've heard it discussed a million times. Should I get a Seamaster or a Submariner? Is one better than the other or is it more an issue of preference? Let's take a look.
Well neither one needs introduction. both are well known and seeped in tradition. Both companies are pioneers in the diving industry though Omega ran on more hard times than replica rolex. James Bond certainly hepled with that one. Divers use both of these brands for their timepieces replica rolex paypal. The gens each have their own attributes. Strong cases to withstand great pressure that keep the elements out. Highly legible and luminscent dials that are easy to read in almost any lighting conditions and unidirectional bezels that allow divers to know when to surface. But let's be realistic. We collect reps. We wear them to dinner and the movies. None of us will ever need to infiltrate SPECTRE'S secret lab and we would not rely on their fake watches timekeeping capabilities to save our lives either. So let's look athem from an astheic perspective.

The Outside
Both are equally attractive in their own way. The Rolex is more classic and utilitarian whereas the replica Seamaster is more stylish and fashionable. The case of the Sub is more angular and sharp looking while the seamaster is softer and round. This does not mean the Submariner is uncomfortable to wear though. Due to it smooth caseback and elevated relief it is actually quite easy on the wrist and does not slide. Though the Seamaster is a heavier watch the higher rolex paypal elevation and wave pattern on it's caseback reduces overall contact on the wrist therefore eliminating discomfort on the wrist pressure points. It also gives the watch a taller appearance. This elevation also prevents the helium valve from sticking you in the arm. The helium release valve on the Seamaster is abscent on the Submariner is awkward looking to some and desirable to others.
Both are made of 316L stainless, yet the Submariner does not suffer the same amount of visual wear as the Seamaster. The satin finish and smooth clasp of the SMP makes it more suseptible to nicks and abrasions. However, the finish on the SMP is easier to touch up.
The uni-directional bezels on both are easy to use. The SMP is taller with octagonal angles. Therefore it has more up and down play than the Submariner which sits flatter on the case. The Seamaster bezel almost seems loose by comparison but it is just as solid.
The Crystal
If you get a good one, boith will have a sapphire crystal. They are however different in shape. The Submariner crystal is flat on top and has no reflective AR. It protrudes slightly above the bezel. The Seamaster’s is domed and a good one should have one sided AR. Although it fits more flush with the bezel, it actually protrudes farther out due to the doming effect, therefore it is more suseptible to scratching. The Subhas a date magnifier. The Seamaster does not.
TheWinder
Both watches have a screw down crown but that is where the similarity ends. The Submariner crown is big and the ridges are pronounced. The Seamster on the other hand is pathetically small by comparison. It almost feesl like it wobbles by comparison. But it is longer than the Sub's so it is still relatively easy to grip. When waterproofed the Submariner will produce better results.
The Dials
Lume is going to be poor on either one so there's no point in going into that. I will say this. The lume on the Submariner reps we see is green. That is incorrect as the gen is usually more white. The Submariner uses classic hands with silver trim where the Seamaster has Skeletonized hands and a red tipped second hand. The tip of the second hand on the SMP is thicker then the Sub. Though not as easy to see in the dark the Seamaster hands are more attractive. The dial on the Subamrier is black laqueres and though it is not metalllic, can appear to be almost glossy gold, especially when paired with a TT band.
Although both are legiible and easy to read, there is no doubt the Seamaster dial is a work of art. The trademark wave pattern that changes from blue to almost black depending on the lighting creates an elegance and depth that the Submariner cannot begin to approach.
The Bracelets
If there is a point on these two watches that are as different as appples and oranges, it is the bracelets. However, they are both nice, just in different ways. The Sub has hollow midlonks and end links in most cases. This makes the band feel flimsy and results in an overall lighter watch. But the three link design of the bracelt makes it stronger overall and much easier to size. The clasp also allows for more fine adjustment. All in all it is still considered a shortcoming by most. The Seamaster bracelet is a seven piece arrangement. Please excuse my depature from etiquette here but though it is more elegant and classy looking the SMP is a goddamn nightmare to resize. The half links do not adjust the length in fine enough increments to allow a perfect fit. But the links are solid and there is little rattle or play as with the Submariner. They should have pins but many reps use screws which is incorrect. Overall it is comfortable to wear and the clasp makes the Submariner's look like a tinker toy. The diver's extension on the Submariner, however is much more useful as it can be adjusted.
Opinion
In the end it all comes down to preference. Both watches have advantages and disadvantages. But both are great timepieces. Since they are reps, they will both use the same movements and their lack of complications result in great reliability. Price is not a factor either as it would be with a gen. If it were however the Seamster would win hands down from a value perspective. Ultimately you should go with whatever makes you smile more. Just remember, it's a replica. don't be anal.
